Who Are We?

Max

Valentina

We are Max and Valentina, a Swiss-Hungarian married couple. Both of us work in the world of technology, and that's how we met—at a tech conference in Budapest. Max went there for a work trip with his colleagues and saw Valentina in the crowd in the conference venue: it was a fairytale-like love at first sight moment. At the time, Valentina was a mathematics student, and after meeting Max, her heart was drawn to Switzerland. A year later, she was working in the AI research team at the University of Basel.

Over the years, they we been working on innovative projects and startups, both together and separately, and we enjoyed sharing our experiences with other programmers at conferences across Europe and North America.

How Was Storique Born?

The idea for Storique is tied to Max and Valentina's first wedding anniversary when Max wanted to create a special gift for Valentina. He wrote a book about their life—their childhoods, youth, how they met, their shared memories, and their future. In the book, their future was imagined exactly as they had dreamed it together.

What made the gift truly special were the personalized illustrations that depicted them realistically yet in a storybook-like style. The book featured Max and Valentina as children, their shared memories, and even their older selves looking back happily on a life full of success.

Even though Max was skilled in technology, he faced difficulties in creating the book in a way that kept the illustrations consistent in style, recognizable, and artistically refined. Technically, it was especially challenging to create illustrations featuring multiple people with distinct characteristics. Despite these challenges, the book was a huge success—Valentina had never received such a touching gift. As she flipped through the pages, seeing their entire life beautifully illustrated, she was moved to tears.

This experience inspired them to combine their expertise in artificial intelligence and create a tool that would allow anyone to craft a similarly unique, personalized book without needing technical skills. Since then, they have worked tirelessly to develop and automate the models, algorithms, and processes that make Storique a powerful and user-friendly platform.

The First Book Created with the Software

The very first book made using Storique was written for their godson, Lóri. In the story, Lóri embarks on a space adventure with his cat, Fekete. As they travel through the solar system, Fekete introduces him to the planets, while Lóri fulfills his biggest dream—becoming an astronaut.

This book demonstrated the power of storytelling in inspiring children, showing how a simple storybook could ignite a child's imagination. We sincerely hope that many more eyes will sparkle with excitement, just like Lóri's when he first flipped through his very own book.
